In the early sixties, Captain Kangaroo featured a recurring segment in which some sort of clockwork anthropomorphic animal -- hedgehog? -- played a hurdy-gurdy, against an empty black background; inter-cut with a revolving toy ferris wheel, also against an empty black background. The entire surreal scene was underscored with melancholy music. What was this segment? Where might this appear on video?

One thing I remember from Capt. Kangaroo is the Tom Terrific cartoons.

I've been thinking about that segment for some time. I remember it really well and I've gone to iTunes several times to see if I can hear that music that was played...I'm sure I'd know it when I heard it.

I believe it was French... probably an accordion or hurdy gurdy version of some old song. But I haven't heard it yet. I'm amazed someone else remembers it.
